Hi! I am a sociologist from the University of Washington –Seattle, USA. I am looking for a student to act as a Slovene-English interpreter while I conduct interview research on non-profit organizations in Ljubljana between 11-24 March 2018.

I aim to interview employees of non-profit organizations and groups working to assist refugees in Ljubljana. Interview topics will include organizational practices and their effects.

Note: This opportunity does NOT come with monetary compensation. Though, the student will have the opportunity to gain experience conducting original sociological qualitative research. If interested, the student may benefit from future opportunities for data analysis or collaboration on publications for this project.

Necessary qualifications:

  • Fluency in spoken English, working level of written English
  • Availability to travel around Ljubljana for interviews between 11 to 24 March 2018
  • Excellent organizational and written communication skills
  • Dedication to good social science research practices
  • Effective interpersonal communication

Preferred qualifications:

  • Completed university courses in social science (sociology, psychology, political science)
  • Experience with or a desire to learn about qualitative interview research methods
  • Academic knowledge of or interest in organizations, immigration, or ethnic relations
